Now, the degree of urbanization has been deepening and we enjoy the convenience brought by urbanization. How does everybody know how the cities began? Long time ago, the world had only a few thousand people. These people moved from place to place, hunting animals for food. No one knows how or when these people learned about growing food. But when they did, their lives changed greatly. One thing is certain that they gathered in the rich place or near water. In that age, water and climate are the most important to lives. It is the rich water and comfortable climate that gathered people from different places. They began to live near one another, so that the first village grew. Many people came to work in the villages. Then the villages became bigger and bigger.When machines were invented, life in the villages changed again. Factories were built. There were a growing number of people living near factories. Because of the increasing people, more and more buildings were built. And then cities were built.

篇二：发展绿色城市

With the development of economy, more and more high buildings are being built in large and medium-sized cities across the country. In urbanization, however, one thing should not be neglected---environmental protection. It is unscientific to judge a city’s modernization level by the number of high buildings. Recently, a new concept “environmental image” has come into being and become an important criterion with which to evaluate a city.

The concept stresses that a modern city must have efficient environmental promotion. It must have a proper proportion of green land, clean water and fresh air. To add more greenery to a city, I would like to make the following proposals:

1. We should popularize “vertical greenery” technique, that is, to plant more green-leaved plants like Boston ivy in densely-located buildings. The roof space of buildings should be used fully to plant flowers, fruits and grasses.

2. Certain room should be reserved for green belts, green patches in the building of new residential districts and the reconstruction of urban areas.

3. Measures should be taken to strengthen people’s awareness of greenery. People should, for example, be encouraged to plant “wedding trees” and “birthday trees”.

Understanding the relationship between China's urbanization and economic development on a provincial scale is of profound theoretical and practical significance.Based on data from 124 countries or regions throughout the world and 31 provinces or autonomous regions in China,applying improved methods using the quadrant map approach,this paper analyzed the spatial pattern of the relationship between China's urbanization and economic development level.The study identified the following results.(1) The 31 province-level regions fall into six categories:only one region is in the category of sharp over-urbanization,3 regions are in medium over-urbanization,11 slight over-urbanization,8 basic coordination,one medium under-urbanization,and seven slight under-urbanization.(2) There are significant regional differences on a provincial scale in the relationships between urbanization and the level of economic development.(3) The provincial pattern of urbanization and economic development is significantly different between east and west.The eastern coastal areas are mainly over-urbanized,while the central and western regions are mainly under-urbanized.(4) The relationship between urbanization and the level of economic development is similar to the Matthew effect.Hence,two important insights are proposed.First,the phenomenon of over-urbanization in some developed regions should be viewed with some concern and vigilance.Second,urbanization needs to be speeded up moderately in the central and western regions.
